By Your Side

Music has always been a part of me. I remember my mom telling me that when I was still in her womb, she sang me songs or played music on the radio. I learned to play my first guitar chords at the age of 12 taught by my dad who plays the piano, guitar, accordion, drums...ish, and is a natural tenor. In times of sadness, music has been my solace.  In times of happiness, music has been my delight.

The impact that music has had in my life as a Christian has led me to live by the words, "You ARE what you sing." A lot of bands are labeled as "Christian" but their lyrics and their lifestyles say otherwise. Songs are not just about babbling out lyrics to a tune, it is who you are.

I was listening to K-Love Christian Radio the other night, and one song kept ringing in my ears; the song By Your Side by Tenth Avenue North. It struck me that a lot of people, even Christians, don’t fully grasp the meaning of grace—God’s grace.  The Bible clearly states that God LOVES you (John 3:16), His perfect Grace is all that you need (2 Cor. 12:9) and is freely given (Romans 6:23b), a gift!

Why are you looking for love? Why are you earning grace? Why are you still searching as if I’m not enough?
